There’s a post online somewhere claiming that Orto botanico di Padova could make one weep. And you know, it’s a fair call; certain eyes were brimming within a few minutes of arrival. The hand-written botanical labels, the aged trees (but one example being a Ginko from the 1750s), the superb presentation of three broad climate zones (tropical, temperate and arid) within a glasshouse of epic proportions, evidence of current use of humble gardening tools – rakes, shovels and wheel barrows, and lastly the spritely chirps of birds singing from the canopies…chirps that are noticeably absent elsewhere. An aboslute feast for the eyes. But enough with the words. Here’s some photographic evidence.
